Dr. Rodgers is an endocrine surgeon and surgical oncologist who practices at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.  He specializes in the surgical treatment of diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas, and adrenal glands, as well as a variety of other malignancies and conditions.  He earned his medical degree and a PhD in Microbiology & Immunology from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee.  He completed a 5-year general surgery residency at the University of Miami, after which he finished a 2-year fellowship at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in surgical oncology with an emphasis on endocrine surgery.  He joined the faculty of the University of Miami in 2006, where he holds the title of associate professor.

Dr. Rodgers is a high-volume endocrine surgeon and routinely performs thyroidectomy, hemithyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, laparoscopic adrenalectomy, and pancreatectomy (e.g., Whipple procedure and distal pancreatectomy).  He works closely with endocrinologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, and radiologists in order to provide state-of-the-art multidisciplinary care to his patients.  He sees patients at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center near downtown Miami; at UHealth at Plantation in Plantation, Florida; and at the Lennar Foundation Medical Center in Coral Gables, Florida.  He operates at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, the University of Miami Hospital, and Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Apart from his clinical practice, Dr. Rodgers teaches medical students, residents, and fellows.  He also conducts research into the mechanisms of endocrine tumor formation.  He has a particular interest in genetic syndromes such as multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN types I, IIA, and IIB) and Von Hippel Lindau disease.
